Hollow State Electronic Sculptures

Vacuum tubes, long obsolete in electronic devices, take on a new life as glowing glass-and-metal sculptures. Arduino microcontrollers compute ever-changing colors for programmable RGB LEDs illuminating classic vacuum tubes: beauty without high voltages! Some tubes think they still live in radio transmitters. Can you decode their messages? Come find out with Ed Nisley of Hollow State Electronic Sculptures.

Rigamajig is Coming to the Faire!

Rigamajig is an exhibit that is part of the Mid-Hudson Children Museum’s Link Lift Launch exhibition. The exhibit is a large scale building set with wooden planks, wheels, pulleys, nuts, bolts and rope that allows children to follow their curiosity through play. Children create contraptions to convey buckets, three legged spaceships, elephant movie projectors hiding under robot monsters, and all-purpose “Rigamajigs.” The act of playing and building is the goal, not the finished product.
